What we collect
- Information you send us: tips, event submissions, ad inquiries, and newsletter sign-ups.
- If you create a reader account: your email address, optional name, a password hash, and account activity needed for sign-in and password recovery.
- If you subscribe: Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, your plan, billing status, and subscription dates. Stripe hosts card entry and billing management; we do not receive or store your full card number.
- Analytics from Vercel: page views and aggregate visitor information. Account recovery tokens are not included in analytics events.
Advertising and cookies
When advertising is enabled, advertising partners may use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits. If Google advertising is enabled, Google and its partners may use advertising cookies. You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info.
We also set our own cookies to remember if you are a logged-in supporter so we can turn off ads for you.
Service providers
Vercel hosts the site, Neon stores account and newsroom records, and Cloudflare R2 stores uploaded media. Stripe processes subscriptions. When email delivery is configured, Resend delivers account recovery messages and private tip notifications. Send only information you are comfortable sharing with the newsroom; this form is not an anonymous or encrypted whistleblower channel.
